Summer Reading Suggestions

Od - 2.png

We have divided the reading list into three categories. First, since all students will be taking a Quest on The Black Odyssey, think about reading a graphic version of Homer’s epic Greek poem, or perhaps, for advanced readers, the recent translation by Emily Wilson. If you choose, you could also read a book related specifically to African American history, which is the second category below. Finally, we always enjoy putting a few coming-of-age stories on the list, especially when those stories involve discovering who you are through the actions you take. Please take a look online at plot summaries and reviews and choosing one that appeals to you. Just remember, the reading should be for your own enjoyment. Nothing on the list is mandatory. We will bring you up to speed during the Quest!
