Each grade will be doing a different hike originating out of the Pantoll Campground near Mount Tam in Marin.
For lunch, the kids who usually get SchoolFoodies can bring their SchoolFoodies lunches with them (they should be delivered by the time we leave). Kids who usually bring their own lunch should bring something that does not require heating.
Also, please make sure that your kids where hiking clothes that can get muddy on Wednesday, as well as rain gear, as it may sprinkle. It will have rained the previous two days, so the trails will be beautifully lush and a little wet.
They do not need to bring any other materials with them in their backpacks other than their journals, a writing utensil, a water bottle, snacks, and a lunch (if they bring it). I also recommend throwing an extra dry layer and pair of socks in there for good measure. Please make sure they are not lugging around a heavy backpack full of binders during the hike.
We have a design challenge that the kids are doing in the morning, and we will be heading out for the hike by 10AM, returning by 330PM. They will be traveling in a combination of charter buses and parents' cars.
